My wife Darcy and I, Dave Sauer, make up a committed husband-and-wife team with 34 years of marriage. We take pride in being parents to five daughters, one son-in-law, and a lively one-year-old grandson. I, Dave, grew up in a family of seven, while Darcy comes from a family of four. We both cherish the joy of having a large family and consider ourselves truly blessed with all our girls, EVEN OUR DOG’S a GIRL! We are grateful that each of our children is walking with the Lord. Our eldest, Savannah, serves as a full-time Worship Leader in Berkeley, CA, navigating the unique challenges of ministry in one of the country’s most demanding areas. Scarlett(married to her husband Jorge), our second daughter, is a stay-at-home mom to our grandson Santiago and a bible influencer with over 50,000 followers on Instagram. Sinclaire, our third daughter, is currently completing her Masters Degree at William Jessup University in Rocklin, CA. Sonniva, the fourth daughter, recently finished her ECE program and holds a part-time position at our church in the kids department. Lastly, Somersby, a true California girl, is a 16-year-old high school 10th grader who is in the Drama program at school and loves contributing her voice to the Youth Worship team at our church.
My initial foray into ministry involved the Foursquare Denomination’s Church Plant Boot Camp and Pastoral Polity program, leading to my participation in a church plant team in the late 90’s. This experience was an incredible time of growth for Darcy and I, growth in our marriage, growth as parents, growth as believers and growth as leaders. We were starting to recognize a calling on our lives for full-time ministry.
However, before being called into full-time ministry, I was the owner of a business specializing in designing, specifying, and selling Fire Trucks to Washington State Fire Departments. Meanwhile, Darcy contributed her skills at our local church in an administrative role and the Women’s Ministry Director. This dual dynamic of Darcy working in the church and myself running the business laid the groundwork for our eventual transition into full-time vocational ministry.
In a remarkable turn of events, my wife and I found ourselves in Northern California by the end of 2006, and by May 2007, I had transitioned into full-time vocational ministry. The past 17+ years have been simultaneously rewarding and challenging, as God has led us from a small church in Yuba City to a mega church in Roseville, to the demanding mission field of San Francisco, CA and back full circle to Yuba City. This journey reaffirms that all things are possible through Christ, who strengthens me, as he has prepared us to serve His people.
